Traditional brides may not want to look in Katharine Polk’s direction when it’s time to walk down the aisle. The founder and designer of Houghton, is aiming her brand toward millennials and eclectic brides. Presented during New York Bridal Week, her collection consisted of creamy jumpsuits, ivory fur coats, lacy shorts and a selection of short, trendy gowns that any Instagram star worth her salt would instantly covet. Pieces range from the sweet and lacy to the short and racy that would make any groom’s heart race.

This season Polk used trends heavily, but each piece was done with only one stand-out detail so brides could incorporate the latest fashions without looking overdone. Cutouts were popular in the collection and came on everything from floor-length gowns to jumpsuits. Asymmetrical cuts were also used heavily and were adorned with fun pieces like fringe, frills, and a beautiful lace on one particularly simple maternity gown. There was even a line of sheer, lacy bra-tops for the very daring bride.

Of course not every contemporary bride will opt to wear white. Polk designed a collection that was mostly white, cream and ivory shades, but added a few colorful options to the line. A few floor-length gowns came in an antique cream shade printed in yellow, pink and purple flowers and were accented with lace and ruffles. Another group of dresses came in a sequin-covered powder blue that would be the perfect complement to an icy winter wedding. A few fur jackets completed the line so that even the most trend-setting of bridal snow queens wouldn’t be chilly on their wedding day.
