 Health & Beauty Few spas can deliver a comprehensive beauty menu in an intimate, welcoming space. I've been to a number of 'spas' that churn out taunt skin, painted tootsies, and edged up eyebrows like an efficient factory, but sometimes to the detriment of guests who feel hurried and slightly lost in mansion sized hallways and rooms smelling of lavender leaves or rose hip.
I was pleased to find a little San Diego based gem along Washington Ave that has mastered the balance of one-stop service with a cozy ambience: The Beauty and Body Lounge. The entire spa is in a historic home, sprinkled with touches like an inviting front porch, heavy wood rafters throughout, and an original fireplace. I have to resist showing up just to drink ice tea on the porch, without a treatment scheduled, because the lounge is just so endearing and quaint.
