Contemporary menswear designer Tim Coppens has just released his first fashion campaign. Shot by photographer T-Bone Fletcher in collaboration with creative director Nicolas Santos, the campaign highlights the new Fall/Winter 2015 collection against the backdrop of the Harlem neighborhood. In an attempt to capture a sense of a realistic urban environment the models (all hand-selected by Coppens due to their “relaxed attitude”) were shot with film rather than digitally, and were photographed without any professional styling, hair or makeup. "New York is the home of my brand, but there will always be something Belgian about my aesthetic," Coppens told Details. "It’s that combination that I wanted to get across in these pictures."
Coppens graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1998, and worked for Ralph Lauren and Adidas before he officially launched his eponymous label in 2011. He has won multiple awards for his work including the 2012 Ecco Domani Award and the 2014 Swarovski Award for Menswear, and was a finalist in both the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and the LVMH Prize. In 2013 he was named one of the Ten of Tomorrow: Fashion’s Rising Stars by WWD. His collections, including the new Fall/Winter 2015 lineup, are available at Mr Porter and Barneys New York.
