Luxury Shopping: Master luthier Jake Robinson boasts that he makes guitars "the old-fashioned way-by hand-one at a time." Is there any other way to make a guitar? Serious guitarists know that for their music to sound its best, their instrument must be individually fitted to them, like a fine suit.
A Robinson Guitar is hand-crafted from highly figured Brazilian rosewood, koa and mahogany, with options such as exotic burl, fossil peg head inlays, unique binding and distinctive purfling. Throughout the entire manufacturing process, Robinson concentrates on and adjusts the thickness, height and scalloping of the wood, and the graduations of the top, back and sides. And of course, Robinson never takes his eye off the moisture content of the wood, from the moment he begins making a guitar to the time it goes home with its owner.
Because Robinson hand-crafts each one of his guitars individually, he is able to produce only 15 of them a year. To read more about Robinson Guitars, view available models and specs, and schedule an appointment, visit the Robinson Guitars Web site.
