Madonna's Haute Ensembles Fashion News: Madonna may be turning 50, but she's still a Material Girl as her luxuriously made costumes are made ready for her upcoming Sticky and Sweet tour, which kicks off later this month.
Arianne Phillips has been behind Madonna's tour wardrobe for over a decade and she's hard at work collaborating with luxury haute couture designers ranging from Tom Ford to Yves Saint Laurent and everyone in between to show off the legendary performer's wide range of influences.
Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, designed the singer's signature dominatrix costumes. Tom Ford, provided custom suits for the band. 3 pairs of custom-made shoes are by Miu Miu, a pair of thigh-high boots are courtesy of Stella McCartney. There are sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and accessories from Roberto Cavalli, Jeremy Scott, and Yves Saint Laurent.

The show is divided into 4 sections, each with its own signature style, including gangsta pimp, art deco, gypsy, and futuristic. Phillips has thoughtfully considered not only the personality of the performer; but the styles of each designer in order to perfectly match the costume to the theme. Givenchy is up for the gangsta pimp/Art Deco which is also incorporating Madonna's most consistent influence, that of the dominatrix. Phillips explains, "It's a theme that runs throughout her career. She's not afraid of being hard." The second of the part of the show Phillips has dubbed "Old School," as it focuses mainly on Madonna's early career in New York City. It is a combination of Scott's outfit and some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. "He and Madonna were friends. If he were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, "What if we revisited that?'" Givenchy also provides costumes for the next stage of the show, which is Gypsy. And the last section of the show, which is futuristic, holds a lot of influence from Japanese fashion and culture.
As Phillips says, "She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age; she looks good in everything."
