Celebrity Endorsements: Rihanna, musical performer extraordinaire, has just been named as the latest spokesperson for luxury giant Gucci's "Tattoo Heart" campaign, which supports the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF).
According to Frida Giannini, the decision makers at Gucci felt, "a musician and a beautiful woman was the perfect icon for this campaign." Giannini saw her at a UNICEF fundraiser earlier this year, and sought her out to be a part of the drive to raise funds for children's rights.
The campaign features special limited edition products sold to benefit the global children's charity, with one quarter of the profits from sales of the items being donated to the cause.
In addition to bags and totes, the special edition line also includes wedge sandals, flats, a necklace and a scarf as well as a coin purse and cosmetics case, allowing your contribution to be as big as a tote or as small as an accessory.
The 20-year old Barbados native appears in the Gucci campaign, which is full of white bags of all shapes and sizes, decorated with tiny tattoo-hearts. As an inked singer, and up and coming fashionista, Rihanna seems like the perfect age to help promote awareness of a children's charity, while being edgy enough to be a valid part of the campaign.
The official "Tattoo Heart" campaign featuring Rihanna begins next year, but already videos and print ads have been put out and you can purchase the items at Gucci's official site.
