Retail Collaborations: Since its inception in 1998, The Standard Hotel has flipped on its side the standard of what to expect from a luxury boutique hotel, which is part of what makes the mini hotel collection's collaboration with surfwear brand Quiksilver so fun and unexpected.
Just as every Standard Hotel has its own flavor derived from the local culture, each decade of Quiksilver has its own style as well, drawn from it's basic one color, one fabric, two buttons and a pocket design.
Quiksilver boardshorts have become a staple of more than just a surfer's wardrobe. They can be found just as easily in the city as in the sand. The collaboration with The Standard Hotels has allowed the iconic brand to reissue its classic 70s and 80s style boardshorts, along with a sexy tie-back bikini, with button details.
To celebrate the achievements of both Quiksilver and The Standard Hotels, the companies have collaborated on a special series where Quiksilver apparel will be offered in unique vending machines found at all The Standard pools.

Each pair of the collaboration's boardshorts incorporates the feel of a Standard Hotel location: The Standard Downtonwn LA emphasizes the bold colors of city living, The Standard Hollywood pays homage to its celebrity surroundings with stars, The Standard Miami offers sunny yellow piping against a white background, while The Standard New York is basic black. For women, a classic bikini in flattering black will also be made available. Each pair of short is hand signed by Quiksilver creative director and skateboard legend Natas Kaupas, along with an insider experience of the city.
The collaborative venture of vending machine style retail goes beyond poolside refreshments to bring luxury style poolside.
