New Film for Prada by Yang Fudong

News & Trends: ‘First Spring’ is Prada’s latest collaboration with pioneering Chinese artist Yang Fudong. Featuring young men gathered in Shanghai, dressed in Prada menswear, the 9-minute black and white film portrays a timeless, dreamlike realm where anything is possible.

Inspired by the promise and opportunities of anew decade, Prada are excited to announce they have agreed with Fudong that the art project will officially become the Spring/Summer 2010 menswear advertising campaign. The film will debut exclusively across digital platforms from early February.

Prada are proud to be launching this innovative new campaign concept with Fudong, who is among the most interesting and influential Chinese artists working today. As Hans Ulrich Obrist , the distinguished curator and critic, observed of Fudong’s acclaimed film series Seven Intellectuals “it is a portrayal of modern Chinese intellectuals’ ambiguous and multiple -meaning status; it’s their aspiration for individual freedom in the course of the current society’s development into a capitalist one.”

News & Trends: Following our recent coverage of the new Megan Fox ads for Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans – Justluxe is happy to provide some fantastic images of her male counterpart, Cristiano Ronaldo, who will be appearing as the official worldwide testimonial for Spring/Summer 2010 advertising campaign.

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot the campaigns featuring Cristiano Ronaldo for both Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans on location in Madrid.

Giorgio Armani said, “Cristiano is a great looking man with the perfect physique of an athlete. For me, he is the essence of youth – spontaneous, exciting, a real maverick. It is for his energy that I have chosen Cristiano to become the new face of Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear – for his youthful, exciting and yes, sexy, attitude.”

Sexy is right. These images speak for themselves… The campaign will begin rolling out in February in sport, fashion and lifestyle magazines and on signature billboards in major global cities.

Tom Binns Takes Costume Jewelry Through the Looking Glass

News & Trends: The fashion world has gone mad for Tim Burton’s upcoming reinvention of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice in Wonderland. Designers from Versace to Moschino as well as home décor brands and designer handbags have all been influenced by tea parties and roses.

Keep your head in the colorful craziness and check out Tom Binns collaboration with Disney. The luxury costume jewelry designer of the moment is the first designer in a planned series for adult Disney lifestyle brand Walt Disney Signature, as well as a less expensive line for Disney Couture featuring Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Red Queen, the White queen and the White Rabbit.

The first Tom Binns Alice In Wonderland-inspired jewelry line is a limited edition collection of six jewelry pieces available at luxury retailers and fine boutiques with a price range from $1,000 to $2,000. The second line for Disney Couture will feature 35 pieces, and will be available at department stores and specialty boutiques in a price range of $100 going up to $500.

Both lines will debut this Spring in time for the March 10th opening of the new film.

Chanel Body Art Coming Soon

News & Trends: Since first debuting on the models walking the runway at Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2010 Fashion Show in Paris, fashion lovers, bloggers and magazines have been agog with the debut of temporary tattoos. Chanel has recently announced that the very same body art will soon be able to all fashionable persons.

Les TrompeL’Oeil de CHANEL Temporary Skin Art are a collection of 25 iconic symbols and codes depicting the legendary fashion house, based on the designs of global creative director Peter Philip. The collection of 55 temporary tattoos is set to make their debut on Chanel beginning in mid-February, according to Stylelist.com , at a price of $75.

Mariah Carey’s Diva-Worthy Champagne

News & Trends: Mariah Carey really likes her sparkling wine. Just remember how the voluptuous diva made headlines with her tipsy proclamations about how much she enjoyed champagne at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards gala. It seems she loves bubbly so much that she’s developing some of her own.

Shortly after her award speech, Mariah took to her Twitter account to announce the launch of Angel, rose champagne. The diva explained her awkward stage moment, saying “Didn't realize they put the champagne on the tables, So we WOULDN'T drink it! LoL. No, seriously ANGEL CHAMPAGNE (ROSE) by MC coming soon!”

It’s not the first time Mariah Carey has been involved with grapes. In 2006 she invested in Mendocino County winery's Mariah Zinfandel and appeared on MTV’s Cribs sipping the stuff.

While no date has been announced for the arrival of Mariah’s new Angel, it is guessed to be some time this year.

News & Trends: Today the IWC has officially launched their new iPhone App. Other luxury brands to embrace one of the 5 hottest social media trends include; Gucci, Chanel, and Bell & Ross. The app is available for free download on iTunes and has capabilities to showcase the entire IWC collection.

Additionally, users can play all of the IWC films, download screensavers, and locate retailers. The “IWC App” enables iPhone users to explore details of the IWC watch collection through images, specifications and unique selling propositions. Even the most complicated mechanisms are explained through digital animations. By holding the iPhone up to your wrist, users can even virtually wear the different IWC models with the “try it on” function.

DNA Tags on High-End Luxury Goods

News & Trends: Applied DNA Sciences announced that it has signed a supply agreement with a prominent international luxury brand to provide signature DNA makings for its products. The specific company was not named. However, what is known is that in exchange for exclusivity of this service, the “mystery” luxury brand has committed to a minimum volume of purchases for each year of the initial five-year agreement.

The service, SigNature® DNA Markers, is applicable to various types of products. DNA from plants is used to mark the products, making it impossible to pass off a copy as an original item. The immediate authentication of an item can be done forensically with a hand held device. Also, the process does not alter the quality or impact the manufacturing process. Applied DNA Sciences has partnered with various firms, such as fine jewelry, wristwatches, clothing, artwork, and handbags.

Swarovski Crystal Sneakers Collaboration

News & Trends: Bedazzling your own sneakers is a little too happy homemaker to be totally luxe, so Swarovski is glamming up a bunch of sneaker lines for the sneaker-loving man, adding style and sparkle to some of the world’s most coveted brands, according to SneakerSet.com

Building on their success of collaborating with women’s designers, the Australian crystal company’s components brand Crystallized-Swarovski Elements has entered into the world of menswear, beginning with last year’s collaboration for luxury brand Lanvin and a special pair of sneakers.

Swarovski’s new collaboration with 12 Japanese brands puts a happy little bounce in luxury sneakerheads’s steps. Brands in on the collaboration include Bedwin& The Heartbreakers,3.1 Phillip lim, Inpaichthys Kerri, CICATA, Kitsune, John Lawrence Sullivan, Casely-Haford,ts(s, Sabatino&SOE, and Visvim as well as others to be featured in a special exhibit.

News & Trends: Armani unveiled yesterday the first images of actress Megan Fox appearing in the official worldwide advertising campaigns for Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear and Armani Jeans, for Spring/Summer 2010.

This is the first advertising campaign featuring Megan Fox, for both Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans. The campaigns were shot on location in Los Angeles by renowned fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and will roll out beginning in February.

Giorgio Armani said, “Megan is young and sexy and has a lot of spirit. Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans are all about a youthful attitude making her the perfect choice for the collections.” Look for the full campaign in fashion and lifestyle magazines and on signature billboards in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris, and Tokyo this spring!

Ralph Lauren Opens New Boutique Outposts in Gstaad

News & Trends: Ralph Lauren has opened an opulent new store in the luxe Swiss ski resort of Gstaad, haven of royalty and the international jetset, featuring a selection of the designer’s finest men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, while a second boutique is planned for the town in the luxurious Gstaad Palace Hotel. The restored exterior of the centrally-located intimate three-story structure captures the chic architectural heritage of local alpine chalets. The interior is finished in pine, oak, local stone and plaster, evoking an atmosphere of comfort and warmth.

A mix of rich details and traditional motifs create the perfect après-ski destination.
