Epic Elite World's Fastest VLJ
Very Light Jets: The Elite is the world's fastest VLJ, according to the aircraft maker, in reporting the results from test flights recently conducted over Bend, Or. The Elite, powered by two Williams Jet FJ-33-4 engines, consistently reached a speed of 385 KTAS, making it faster than the Eclipse 500 and the Phenom 100.
"It is exciting to see this kind of performance," said Epic's CEO Rick Schrameck. He added, "We always knew we were building the fastest VLJ out there, but now we've proved it."
With two certified airplanes on target for availability in late 2009, Epic is taking flight in the fiercely competitive VLJ marketplace with its Dynasty and Elite models. Both aircraft are made of carbon fiber and are designed with performance and luxury at the forefront. The jets' nautical-mile range is much higher than other VLJs. It goes hundreds of miles further compared to others in its class, such as the Eclipse 500, the Citation Mustang, or the Adam A700. Both Epic jets are lighter than most models in this category.
The Elite and the Dynasty are Epic's certified aircraft. There also are additional models in the wings that will increase the manufacturer's overall appeal in the VLJ market. The development of the LT, the Escape, and the Victory is in progress.
