Luxury Aircraft: It is very comforting to know
that the manufacturer of the world's best selling
general-aviation airplane is steadfastly devoted to
safety. "Safety Comes Standard" is the mantra of
Cirrus. The company produces all-composite single
engine, four-seat jets with its SR20-G2, SR22-G2,
SRV-G2 and SR20-GTS and SR22-GTS models. The firm's
growth rate is soaring, as it plans to expand its
manufacturing facilities in Duluth, Minnesota, and
Grand Forks, North Dakota. By June 2006, Cirrus is
expected to enter the private jet-chartering business
with the acquisition of Greenville, South
Carolina-based Smart Air Travel Solutions Air (SATS
Air). The move enables Cirrus' new wholly owned
subsidiary to have a 100 SR-series aircrafts in its
fleet by year's end. The business plan is to offer
short-leg flights in the 200 to 300 mile radius.
The SR models feature all-digital glass cockpits that
simplify flying duties and enhance safety with greater
visibility. A whole-airframe-parachute-recovery
system, CAPS, is a unique safety feature that adds an
extra layer of protection for flyers. The entire
aircraft has a parachute, meaning that if the plane is
in peril, a parachute is deployed that will allow the
plane to land safely. These planes also are equipped
with energy-absorbing seats that are similar to
airbags in automobiles.
The SR GTS models can be purchased factory-direct,
which results in cost-savings to buyers. Both new and
previously owned crafts are available. Fractional
ownership and rentals also can be accommodated. Jets
of this size have access to all of America's 18,345
airports. The approximate price range of the SRV-G2,
SR20-G2, and SR22-G2 is from $200,000 to $350,000, with
numerous optional features. The SR20-GTS and SR22-GTS
come in at around $335,000, and $448,000,
respectively. Check out Cirrus' informative website
