About the President
At the young age of 14, Jeffrey Menaged learned the importance of exceptional customer service working in his uncle's retail clothing store. Today, it is that principle that has become the core of his operation of Chief Executive Air, a private jet charter company founded in 2003 to cater to the needs of those seeking ultra-luxurious travel experiences. Whether it is a business executive in need of a private jet, or families shopping for back to school clothing Menaged believes the key to success is "just taking care of people."
After years of following in his family's footsteps in the retail and apparel business, Menaged exercised his entrepreneurial sprit in the late 90s when he had the dream of bringing computers and affordable Internet access to every home in America. Forming partnerships with major retailers such as K-mart and Wal-mart and even getting support from the White House, Menaged was well on his way to changing the landscape of Internet usage in America when the tech bubble burst. Undeterred, Menaged decided to return to what he knew best -- how to take care of people and get them what they need when they need it. Only this time, instead of clothing, he was going to cater to the elite providing the luxury and convenience of private aviation.
At Chief Executive Air, Menaged and his staff work 24/7 to meet the demands of clients that are "cash rich and time poor;" making his attention to detail and anticipation of their needs all that more important. Whether it is a CEO traveling to an important meeting, a musician on a national tour or a family going on vacation, Menaged and his team make sure every detail of the travel experience is picture perfect and each client is treated with the utmost respect; a lesson he instills in his entire team.
Service is key; but safety is paramount. Menaged remembers back to when he was five years old and due to fly an Eastern Airlines DC-10 to Puerto Rico for vacation. His mother was concerned about the safety of that particular airplane and made the whole family wait a day to take a different plane. Another childhood lesson which plays a vital part in his current career, making the safety of his clients his number one priority.
Acknowledging the world of private aviation is getting increasingly crowded as it becomes a more popular method of travel, Menaged admits "it's easy to do, but much harder to do well." Doing it well is what sets him apart from the growing crowd. It is the constant desire to do it better which drives Menaged and the success of Chief Executive Air. Always looking for ways to offer more and better amenities to serve to his clients, he has initiated a personal concierge service, delivers Michelin-star culinary in-flight dining experiences and even offers more subtle personal gestures like giving clients customized ipods pre-loaded with their favorite music. Menaged's focus is clear: "always take better care of customers." In addition to taking better care of people, Menaged emphasizes a need for social responsibility. In 2008, Chief Executive Air was the first charter company to offer a Carbon Offset Program whereby clients purchase carbon credits to fund the production of alternative energy, such as wind power to offset the carbon emissions resulting from their flight.
Every day Jeffrey Menaged learns something new from his clients and plans to keep doing it for quite some time to come. Armed with his early childhood lessons, an in-depth knowledge of the industry and his commitment to excellence, Menaged plans to just keep doing it better and better.
