Overview
Established in 1964, the Herbert Palmer Gallery exhibits work of master American, European and Asian artists. As Los Angeles' oldest Modern and Contemporary international gallery, it was an important catalyst in the California scene as it developed in the early 1960's. The gallery was the first to exhibit now well-known English artists such as David Hockney and Bridget Riley.
Other artists who have had important early exhibitions with Herbert Palmer include such innovators as John Cage, Claus Oldenburg and Christo.
Today, the gallery's focus is on the Twentieth Century Modernist and helping its clients to realize and build new collections.
As an art historian and director, Herbert Palmer offers the services of consulting with clients in building significant collections and appraising artworks. Herbert Palmer Gallery appraises and receives on consignment paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, multiples, photographs and original works on paper. The Gallery does not appraise artwork over the phone or internet. Appraisals require the artwork to be brought to the gallery or that a visit to the collection be made. The minimum fee is $100. You will receive a written appraisal signed by Mr. Palmer. Please call the gallery with your consignment or appraisal requests.
