From the Clooney Burn to Jennifer Lopez's "Globes": The Best Jokes, Flubs, & Photobombs From the Golden Globes

Photo/Video Courtesy of NBC

Last night's Golden Globes brought us some surprising—though not disappointing—wins (congrats Wes Anderson!) and tons of on-point jokes from the comedic hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. A lot can be said for what the wins mean for the future of entertainment (especially in terms of television due to Netflix and Amazon scoring some important awards and the fact that every TV winner was a first-timer), and as always, the flicks that do well at the Globes have a pretty great chance at doing well in the Oscar race. In fact, for the past two years, the Globe winners for best motion picture drama—Argo and 12 Years a Slave—went on to score at the Oscars. Which means, if you haven't seen Boyhood yet, you may want to. But the winners (the full list can be seen here) aren't the only reason to tune in, it's the comedic moments delivered by the all-star guests and razor sharp hosts Tina and Amy. Plus, unlike the Oscars, alcohol flows freely at this event, so you know it'll be good. Below are some of our favorite jokes (Tina's mic-dropping Clooney joke heard around the world), flubs (it's cool, Ricky Gervais, it was still better than Travolta's), and photobombs (oh, Cumberbatch, it never gets old).

Instead of just highlighting a few of Tina and Amy's opening jokes, we put the entire 10-minute opening above so you can enjoy. It's got the perfectly ironic Clooney joke, they call out Joaquin Phoenix for hating award shows but being there anyway, drop a truth bomb about The Interview, call out Hollywood's treatment of women over 40, and attempt to explain what cake is to the crowd. And of course, there's the cringe-worthy (yet hilarious) extended Bill Cosby joke.

Benedict Photobombs Meryl Streep and North Korean Journalist

In case you didn't know, that's underrated comedian Margaret Cho as the North Korean Journalist and her running gag throughout the show was fantastic. Cho took to her Twitter to express having zero regrets for her controversial appearance—which is a nod to her portrayal of Kim Jong-Il on 30 Rock—and spoke with Buzzfeed News, saying, "I’m of North and South Korean descent, and I do impressions of my family and my work all the time, and this is just another example of that. I am from this culture. I am from this tribe. And so I’m able to comment on it." She also added, "I can do whatever I want when it comes to Koreans—North Koreans, South Korean. I’m not playing the race card, I’m playing the rice card. I’m the only person in the world, probably, that can make these jokes and not be placed in a labor camp.”

Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader Present Best Screenplay With Improvisation

Just in case you didn't love these two enough already, here is over two minutes of improvised gold, including Wiig's horrible De Niro impression. Can these two just walk through life always at one another's side?

Jeremy Renner's Cleavage Joke With Jennifer Lopez

Well done, Renner, we see what you did there, even if it was boderline creepy.

Ricky Gervais Presents Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical

After doing what he does best by pointing out the absurdities in Hollywood, Gervais presented the nominees and had a little trouble with pronouncing Quvenzhane Wallis' name. He even joked that he practiced it so he wouldn't have a John Travolta moment. Unfortunately, he still got it wrong. To be fair, later on in the night when Access Hollywood pointed it out to him, Gervais commented that he was told to pronounce it that way. To be honest, we just thought he butchered her name on purpose, to further mock Travolta. Either way, we laughed.

Cumber's Photobomb Game Stays Strong & More From NBC's Instagram Feed

NBC's Golden Globes Instagram feed gave everyone some pretty awesome behind-the-scenes peeks at award nominees and winners. From the evening's first winner J.K. Simmons (who thanked his co-star Miles Teller for inspiring him to scream at him everyday—if you haven't seen Whiplash yet, we pity you) to the beautiful Gina Rodriguez after her Best Actress win for Jane the Virgin, here are some of our favorite shots:

Then there's this kid, who find himself in the background of Clive Owen's shot and shows off his wink game.

Last but not least, here's Bill Murray on the red carpet, because...well, we don't need a reason. He's Bill Murray.
