 Luxury Autos: BMW does not view the 2007 M6 as a sports car or a luxury coupe. Rather than offer a single classification to place this one-of-kind gem, it may be best to generate a new beyond-the-box tag for it. The M6 is an "LSC," a luxury sports car. Vehicle reviewer Edmunds test drove the M6, with its 5.0-liter V10 engine and seven-speed sequential manual gearbox, and called it "the fastest, quickest production car BMW has ever built," reporting that it is quicker to 60 mph than a Porsche 911 Carrera S and more agile than a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
The M6 seats four and offers a variable-speed-sensing suspension that adapts to road conditions and speed. Despite weighing in at nearly 4,000 pounds, lightweight technology is deployed throughout the vehicle. The electronic damper control offers three settings to accommodate drivers - preferences. The M6 has an optional display on its windshield that enables a driver to remain focused on the road while monitoring the car's "vital" signs. The front seats are fully powered, heated, and offer lumbar support. A navigational system with voice control is optional. The upholstery is Merino leather, and exotic wood trims can be added. It even has a service-interval indicator that is standard equipment.
There is a coupe and convertible M6, and it comes in seven metallic colors. If one is inclined to pile on the optional equipment and accessories, the price of the 2007 BMW M6 easily will exceed six figures.
