2009 Challenges: Nissan GT-R Versus Jaguar XF

Automobiles: Excitement mounts as the pubic is given sneak peaks of 2009 automobiles at auto shows throughout the year. Two sedans making the rounds that are sure to pique the interest of luxury-sedan lovers are the Nissan GT-R and the Jaguar XF. While both vehicles are sedans, it is clear that the manufacturers' present the sedans differently.

The Nissan GT-R is the rebirth of one of the most extraordinary performance cars to come from a Japanese carmaker. The Jaguar XF is a luxury sedan steep with pedigree and a bit kick under the hood in its own right. Although the GT-R is more of an asphalt-melting, stomach-flopping jalopy at heart, both exude an aura of unchallenged excellence. Both possess the requisite creature comforts on vehicles in this price range. While the XF places more emphasis on luxury and style, the GT-R is more an unabashed muscle car that happens to have luxury features and nice looks.

2009 Nissan GT-R

The slogan behind the beastly 2009 Nissan GT-R "Anyone ... Anywhere ... Anytime" poignantly conveys the firm's overall confidence in this sedan to enthrall the public. This vehicle can hang with a Porsche 911 Turbo on a test track- and it has a real backseat! The legendary GT-R returns to the U.S. June 2008. The GT-R, the Gran Turismo- Racer, is a sassy performance monster that is sufficiently classy to be chased after by parking lot attendants. Underneath the hood is a fuel-efficient 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbo VR-38 that generates 480 bhp at 6,400 RPM. In other words (like English), it accelerates from zero to 60 in less than 3.5 seconds, and its top speed is in the low 190s. The suspension of the all-wheel drive GT-R is electronically adjustable. The transmission is a six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The F1-styled transmission has two clutches. There is one for the odd and the even gears, respectively. Nissan claims that the car's fuel efficiency- when the transmission is on automatic- is up to 30 percent better than comparable automobiles. The base price of the GT-R is $69,000 to $72,000.

2009 Jaguar XF

Perhaps the 2009 Jaguar XF is a luxury sedan of balance with detail spent equally on luxury features and performance. There will be a luxury, a premium luxury, and a supercharged version of the XF. Each features a 4.2-liter V-8 engine. The supercharged version is somewhat faster. The push-button start is bleeding-edge technology. It is as if the car comes to life from the driver's touch. Drivers can adjust the suspension into three different settings. Additionally, there is a winter mode to maximize safety during en clement weather. Optional features include an advanced-vision package, a cold-climate package, and a navigation package.

Either one of these beauties is guaranteed to get oodles of attention at red lights, in parking lots, and on the roads!
