When the Ultimate Aero TT first made its debut many industry insiders felt that this vehicle would break the world speed record for production cars. It wasn't long before they were proven right, as the Ultimate Aero TT reached an unprecedented speed of 256.15 mph, making this lightweight, aerodynamic vehicle officially the "World's Fastest Production Car." It does zero to 60 mph in 2.78 seconds and a quarter mile in less than 10 seconds. The four-wheeled road rocket redlines at 7,200 rpm.

Faster than you can say Mr. Ettore Bugatti, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is going 60 mph plus. It goes from zero to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and accelerates at over 120 mph in less than eight seconds! And if you got a minute, it tops out at over 250 mph in 56 seconds. The 4,200-pound coupe has a seven-gear manual drive or a Formula 1 gearbox, fully automatic dual-clutch transmission that powers its 1,001-horsepower, 16-cylinder, 8-liter engine. And it can be driven either at racetracks or in everyday traffic. Isn't that what is expected from a car costing more than $1 million?

Until the arrival of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the Koenigsegg CCR was the fastest production car ever made at 241 mph (388 Km/h). The CCX is the U.S. version of the heralded Swedish beast. It does a standing quarter mile in 9.9 seconds and goes from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds. The car's maximum speed exceeds 245 mph. Its lightness is attributable to the body and chassis being made of pre-impregnated carbon fiber that is reinforced with a Kevlar-and-aluminum honeycomb. Believe it or not; the CCX's engine runs on 91-octane and meets California's stringent emissions standards. Finally, there is something that can keep up with the rapidly spiraling cost of living in California!
