Lamborghini & Versace Team Again
Strategic Partnerships: The "I-team," that is, Italy's Lamborghini and Versace have united again to put a special twist on the Murcieleago LP640. This latest unification results in the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 Roadster Versace. In 2006 the two vaunted firms collaborated to produce 10 LP640 coupes and one LP640 roadster. The limited edition Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 Roadster Versace will be produced to order.
Privileged buyers will be able to personalize their car with options on equipment specifications, the color of the exterior, and the interior fittings. The LP640 Versace Roadster features a pastel white livery and the Versace Greek key motif on the lower part of the door. The vehicles monstrous V-12 engine is shown off through a transparent engine hood. The interior is clad in black and white leather with full-grain nappa leather. The hand-embroidered Versace Greek-fret motif is positioned on the upholstery, the instrument panel, the doors, and the central console.
In a recent press release, Gianni Versace's CEO Giancarlo Di Risio said, "This new supercar and the exclusive Collection LP640 represent a natural evolution of excellence for both Versace and Lamborghini through the creation of these unique, one-of-a-kind projects."
It sounds as if more joint productions are forthcoming. Lamborghini's president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann also conveyed good feelings regarding the endeavor.
"Our collaboration with Versace turned out to be an excellent experience, and (it) is an example of how we are pursuing our strategy of developing luxury products outside of luxury sports cars. We are proud to be in this prestigious, "Made in Italy" partnership with Versace, which adds to our other recent successes."
The special-edition sports car was unveiled at Versace's Via Gesu 12 in Milan during Men's Fashion Week. Additionally, there is new line of Lamborghini Versace merchandise that includes leather luggage, gloves, driving shoes and assorted accessories. This merchandise will be exclusively available at Versace Boutiques and selected Lamborghini showrooms beginning in November 2008.
