Own an Exclusive Lotus Sport Exige Cup 255
Luxury Vehicles: The vehicles can be dressed up, valet parked, and driven most civilly in urban settings and freeways. However, Lotus sports cars are one-ton speed machines built for pedigreed adrenaline freaks in search of the ultimate hair-raising, air-swallowing ride of a lifetime. The Lotus Sport Exige Cup 255 is the latest exclusive "road to track offering" from this maker of maximum-performance vehicles. An air-conditioning system being an option and not a standard feature is an indicator of how far Lotus' pursuit of performance in the Exige Cup 255 goes. The spirited automaker knows its owners well.
The lightweight heavy-duty performance vehicle is a sports coupe that is fully equipped for the track with an adjustable suspension, a limited slip differential and a standard traction control that is "switch-able." The interior is designed foremost for driver safety and includes a single-fuel-ignition kill switch and an optional SCCA-compliant roll cage or FIA-approved six-point roll cage. Lotus claims that the car is "out-of-the-box track ready."
With other Lotus cars possessing a top speed of 150 mph with less horsepower, the car's top speed likely exceeds the standard Lotus" notch on the speedometer. While there are faster cars, it's unfathomable to find any that offer more thrills than a day at the track driving a Lotus. Ardent Red and British Racing Green are the standard colors; other options are available.
Master the Lotus and Visit Vegas
The Lotus Performance Driving School is for the impassioned Lotus driver and offers one-and two-day programs guaranteed to make any participant a better driver for the experience. The school is located at the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nev., which is a short distance from Las Vegas.
Both driving programs put students behind the wheel of Lotus. However, the second day of the two-day deal offers a lot of on-track time with each participant getting three or four sessions on a 1.5-mile track. Students are taught the nuances of braking, shifting, and skid control along with their "tearing up the track" time. There are elevation changes and challenging corners throughout the course. Student drivers are under the watchful eye of professional drivers who communicate directly to them through two-way radios. It's wild but totally safe (that is, not including the trip to Las Vegas).
