Lotus Evora: Here's a new model to unleash on track at the Lotus Performance Driving School!

The UK-based automaker with a proclivity for building outrageously efficient high-performance vehicles recently introduced the Lotus Evora at the L.A. Auto Show. The Evora is a 2+2 luxurious sports car that is as exhilarating for a driver as it is luxuriating for the passengers. This is big news for an organization that once viewed an air-conditioning system as an optional accessory. The Evora's recent debut was more than an introduction of a new model. It was a paradigm for the future of company as well.

The organization renowned for producing lightweight dynamic cars that are agile, athletic, and sleek is not abandoning its history; it is expanding upon it. Lotus' reputation for engineering speedy cars is transcending into its business philosophy too, as the Evora was developed and sped to market in a zooming 21 months. It sometimes takes that long simply to decide whether to make a new model.

Lotus enthusiasts may be somewhat surprised upon entering the Evora. The beast has gotten a luxury makeover with supple leather stitched adjustable Recaro racing seats in the front and flush mounted backlit gauges and dials on the dash. There is even a multi-media system with a seven-inch touch screen, a navigation system, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. Cup holders, storage bins, and a trunk large enough to hold a set of golf clubs complete the package. Can you believe it?

The all-aluminum Evora has a mid-mounted, transverse 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 engine and is powered by a six-speed manual transmission that delivers from zero to 60 mph in less than five seconds. Its wishbone suspension, Bilstein high-performance dampers, and Eibach springs keep the ride true to the Lotus DNA.

Lotus Is Going Green

Lotus is planning to unleash three additional models in two years plus five electric vehicles. The electrifying ride will soon be coming from electric-powered vehicles. Lotus intends to keep its brand exclusive, as only 6,000 to 8,000 vehicles per model will be made yearly.

Lotus execs feel that it is its best car ever. The Lotus Evora will be available in the summer 2009. Any takers?
