"I found there was a real gap in the marketplace with what resorts did and it's entirely different than plunking down hundreds of thousands of dollars to access luxury homes. Vacation rentals are like charter jets in that the experience is scary at first for most if they have never done it before."
Whether you are looking for an escape to a private beach or prefer a snowy winter ski getaway, One Key offers an array of properties throughout the world. You may select a weekend escape or you can go for the travel the world package, it's all up to you.
"Our concept is entirely different," Sapovits said. "We go to luxury destinations that qualify by our inspection of certain criteria, which takes the guess work out of vacation rentals. We put on top a service layer to assist the guest with vacation planning, stocking the fridge, coordinating restaurant reservations or airport rentals and everything is complete for their stay."
There are three levels of membership, beginning at 15 One Key Nights for $39,900. The second level includes 25 One Key Nights for $59,900 and the third level includes 45 One Key Nights for $99,900. Popular beach destinations include Los Cabos, Mexico, St. Barth, Turks & Caicos, and Harbour Island in the Bahamas. Ski homes are located in Deer Valley, Utah, Telluride, Colorado, Stowe, Vermont, Aspen and many other locations.
"When determining our destinations, we see where people with private jets travel and since we don't own the homes, we work with our members to find the perfect destination," he said. "We have 100 clients with 32 destinations and more than 500 homes. We are working now to put Jackson Hole in our portfolio along with London, Paris and St. Mortiz."
The nights are debited from your membership based on the length of your vacation, the size of home and seasonality.
With the recent difficult economy, Sapovits remains committed to providing the best service and properties for his clients. "We have been working really hard to build our pipeline," he said. "People are typically in holding patterns for making big decisions but our service is like a debit card format starting with a minimum investment of $40,000. It's not like a destination club where there is far more risk involved. The economy is challenging and some people feel less rich but no one is so hurt that they are not reinvesting back into their family. They are just finding ways to do it. For example, instead of going to Colorado for a ski trip, they are driving to Stowe for the weekend."
