Close your eyes, drift into serene repose and imagine an unforgettable event where you spend an entire weekend kicking back and sipping wine. Now imagine the irresistible combination of gourmet food, wine and music at Maui’s only Forbes Five Star property, the legendary Four Seasons. Better yet, just book the Four Seasons' Vintage Wine Weekend (December 5-7, 2014) and experience it firsthand.

The Vintage Wine Weekend pairs some of the world’s finest wines, vintners and sommeliers. This particular weekend is also accompanied by the strings of a rare classical violin plied by Elizabeth Pitcairn. Add the culinary creativity of master Executive Chef Roger Stettler and his team, and you have the recipe for a connoisseur tour de force.

If the overture sounds good, the symphony of details will be music to your ears. The players in this three-day festival—-part of the resort’s Unforgettable Events series—include master Sommelier Roberto Viernes and renowned vintners Dan Kosta of Kosta Browne, Donald Patz of Patz & Hall, Gary Burke of Costa de Oro, and Steve Clifton of Brewer-Clifton.

Wine aficionados, as well as gourmands and music lovers, will convene on December 5 at the Oceanfront Gala, with cuisine orchestrated by the hotel's Master Executive Chef Roger Stettler—with pairings from a selection of more than 40 wines provided and discussed by the sommelier and guest vintners.

The next day features the VIP Private Cellar event, with a design that was borrowed from the traditional burgundian La Paulée Fete—a place where winemakers brought their best bottle to share and compare. Guest winemakers, sommeliers and the Four Seasons Maui will unearth their library wines for an evening of surprise and discovery. Inspired items from master Chef Roger Stettler’s repertoire add to the excitement and adventure.  This wine aficionado event is participatory, as guests are requested to bring their own favorite bottle. The event is priced at $195 per person (plus tax and gratuity).

A classical violin performance by Elizabeth Pitcairn—the celebrated American violinist who owns and (will perform on) the famed Red Violin, crafted by Antonio Stradivari—will cap off the weekend festivities. The violin vanished for more than 200 years, creating speculation on its mysterious past. Pitcairn's grandfather purchased the instrument at an auction in 1990, which then inspired the Award-winning 1999 movie, The Red Violin.

A special four-course gastronomic menu with classical overtures will be paired with limited production, premium wines selected from the Cardinale Estate, a Jackson Family Wine Collection, Napa Valley, and presented by winemaker Christopher Carpenter. The price of this event is $295 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

This thoughtfully curated weekend should appeal to any aficionado and connoisseur who appreciates the layers of richness, complexity, and rarity that are signature elements of The Four Seasons Maui’s Unforgettable Event series.
