 Food & Spirits: As one of the first California wineries to plant all five varieties of Bordeaux, Mount Veeder produces distinctive wines with elegant tastes.
The 2005 Mount Veeder Reserve is crafted from small lots of very concentrated fruits to produce a wine with a deep color and complex nose of berries, coffee cassis, with hints of licorice, vanilla and cocoa.
A blend of cabernet sauvignon as well as merlot and malbec, gives the Reserve a distinctive deep ruby hue. The full-bodied palate stands up well to a perfectly cooked steak and might also be an unusual choice for a very rich cocoa-centric dessert.
The 2005 Reserve is an excellent choice for collector's with a suggested retail price of $80.
Mount Veeder's 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is another excellent way to experience the excellent growing climate of the Napa Valley area's Mayacamas Mountains.
The deeply colored wine weaves warm aromas of cassis and tobacco together with lighter fruit flavors of raspberry and plum. The result is a wine with many taste layers and a full finish.
