For 80 years Bang & Olufsen has forged its charter by
offering lovers of high-end luxury-electronic products
that are rich with bleeding-edge technology, design
and functionality. It is in this tradition that the
firm introduces its limited edition BeoCom 2 cordless
telephone to commemorate the company's 80th
anniversary. It is probably more than just coincidence
that the telephone resembles an exclamation mark, as
its features are on the exclamatory level.
The BeoCom 2 is designed from a single piece of
aluminum and contoured to fit the hand and curves of
the face. It can be wall-mounted or placed onto a flat
stand. The chic communications device comes with four
headphone variants and memory capable of retaining up
to 200 phone numbers. Its phone-book-replication
technology is so sophisticated that it is simple to
use. Only 600 BeoCom 2s are to be released with this
limited edition. Three hundred of those come with
original, one-of-a-kind artwork by Bang & Olufsen's
artist/designer Bess Kristoffersen. The ring tone of
the phone is an inviting original composition by the
renowned Kenneth Knudsen.
Ten percent of the profits from the BeoCom 2 are being
donated to VH1's Save the Music Foundation, which is
dedicated to improving the quality of music education
by restoring instrumental music programs in public
schools across America. The BeoCom 2 retails at
$1,085.
