Apple Shines Brightly with iPhone and Apple TV
Luxury Products: While many manufacturers of mobile phones at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas are busily introducing new products, perhaps the shot fired from the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco by Apple carried the biggest boom. This is where Steve Jobs introduced the much-anticipated iPhone. Although product intros are a big deal to the company and pundits of the industry, such occurrences do not usually prompt a firm's stock to rise more than eight percent while shares of competitors' stocks decline. However, that is exactly what happened subsequent to the introduction of the iPhone. Cingular, the largest wireless carrier in the U.S., will be Apple's exclusive U.S. carrier of the iPhone.
Apple's iPhone seamlessly combines three products into
a lightweight, handheld device. It is a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and an Internet communications device with email, Web browsing, maps, and searching. Its multi-touch display makes it very simple to use all functions, while the predictive keyboard prevents and corrects mistakes, making it more convenient to use. Its full QWERTY soft keyboard enables users to send and receive SMS messages in multiple sessions. The iPhone will be available June 2007 and priced at $499.
Another new product introduced by Apple is the
Apple TV. The device enables users to wirelessly watch movies
and shows downloaded from iTunes on their big-screen
televisions. An Apple TV can put an entire iTunes library on a television. Additionally, digital photos from iPhoto or Adobe Photoshop Elements can be viewed too. The price of the Apple TV is under $300.
