Speecys Builds "Network Robots" with MSI
Electronic Gadgets: If Disney can make a movie star out of WALL-E the robot, we thought it would be a good time to introduce a working class robot to balance things out. Say hello to SPC-101C! This 33 centimeters tall (13 inches) charmer with the robotic personality comes with an outer suit, speakers, a built-in camera in its head, and, it can be hooked up and used as a mobile phone. Speecys is the creator of the SPC-101C. The company has additional models with more joint movement that are being used extensively in laboratories to assist research and development projects.
The multitasking robot walks, talks, and is fully controllable through a wireless LAN. The system's Motion Editor, which is used in conjunction with an external PC, enables motions, sounds, voice, and lights to be programmed into the robot's electronic ways.
The robot builders are teaming up with computer maker MSI to build entertaining network robots, which received a great deal of attention at Japan's recently completed 2008 Computex conference.
The SPC-1010 has two speakers, LED displays in hand and chest, a CMOS video camera.
