Motorola's Aura Does Circles Around Cell Phone Market

Luxury Cell Phones: Motorola's Aura is the world's first 16-million color, circular display handset to enter the marketplace. The manufacturer is expecting consumers of its high-end multiple-use, limited-edition personal-communications device to party like it is 1999. Actually, the "1999" is a lead-in to the MSRP of $1,999.99. Its arrival is just in time for the holiday season, as orders being taken now are set to ship during the first week of December.

Aura's revolutionary circular display is more than another pretty geometric shape. The clarity of its 1.55-inch-diameter LCD screen is brilliant with 16 million colors and 300-ppi-resolution. The excellent view remains intact forever, as a scratch-resistant 62-carat sapphire-crystal lens protects the portal-shape screen. The audio is equally clear with CrystalTalk voice-enhancement technology. Its smart features include Internet connectivity, a fixed-focus camera, and a music player.

Inspired by high-end watches, the Aura is built with the same degree of precision as a well-made timepiece. It has a stainless-steel casing, a mirror-polish finish, and 700 components. Inspired by the technology found under the hood of high-performance racecars to minimize viscosity, there are three tungsten carbide coated gears in the assisted-opening-blade mechanism along with the section's 200 parts and 130 ball bearings. It weighs in at less than five ounces and is less than two inches tall and approximately four inches wide.

The Motorola Aura is a precisely made visually appealing technologically advanced personal-communication device that is going to be on the wish lists of many electronic-gadget aficionados this holiday season. The handheld work of art is a MotoStore exclusive item available online through Motorola.
