You can simultaneously scan up to 12 frames of 35mm film (negatives or positives), or up to 8 mounted slides. You don't have to worry about mixing up photo paper and plain paper (because you know how much photo paper costs). Two paper trays let you keep photo paper stored in one, plain paper in the other, so you're always ready to print either photos or documents.
