We've got webcams and nannycams, picture phones and portable DVD players but what about personal robots to protect our homes? While this clever little "humanoid" can't fight off intruders, the new robot, nuvo, by Japanese company ZMP Inc. can send you images of your house while you're away and respond to verbal commands like "Turn right" -it can even do a little dance.
Unlike the movies, where super intelligent robots give humans a run for their money, these walking robots aren't likely to present a threat standing only 15 inches tall and weighing 5.5 pounds but may provide a little hokey entertainment and peace of mind. Selling for 588,000 yen ($5,450 USD), nuvo is available to buy at a shop in Tokyo or for those not willing to fly half way around the world, on the internet at http://www.zmp.co.jp/e_home.html
