Beach decor is peaceful and tranquil. Creating a coastal retreat focuses on connecting your living space to the environment. Beach lifestyles are easy and interiors are light, airy and soothing. Clean lines, whites and creams, and blues often predominate beach style decor. Everything should be simple because it's the view outside the windows that is the attraction.

Colors - While white and blue hues are traditional in the beach style of decorating, any color found in nature on the beach can work well, including pale coralsand greens. Stay away from brightly hued jewel tones, or dark heavy colors.

Fabrics - Window treatments should be sheer and airy; all the better to let inthe ocean breezes and the color of sunlight reflecting off the water. Bed linens should also create a cozy but crisp and clean feeling.

Furniture - Beach furniture is casual in style with easy-care fabrics. For couches and chairs, slipcovered furniture would be nice. Wicker furniture can really boost the beach feeling in your room. Utilize light colored woods for a sofa and coffee table.
