The Simplistic Beauty of the Slatewood Lamp Collection

Complicated design doesn't always mean better, and the Slatewood Lamp Collection proves it. Offered by NoEnd Designs, the two wooden lamps make us think of relaxing summer nights at a beach house and while the company certainly put a lot into the process, they look perfectly effortless.

The handcrafted Slatewood Lamp is currently available via the company's Kickstarter campaign, which (as of publication) is funded nearly double their goal of $5,000. With 14 days left, there is still plenty of time to get yourself one of each. The Slatewood Arc is made using soft woods, which allows light to seep through the wood, giving it a soft glowing effect. The Razor is much sleeker in appearance, with hardwoods maintaining the light and directing it between the slats.

"The color and form of wood brings life to any surface, product, and room. We designed the Slatewood Lamp as an adaptable platform that accommodates all types of media," says the company. "Both soft and hard wood is at the core of this design […]. Having such an open slate ensures that there is a perfect match for your favorite desk, end table, night stand, living room set, the paint on your walls, or anything else that brings pleasure to your locality. NoEnd Designs offers many different shade color options, each one changing the tone of light once the lamp is switched on. For example, the Maple looks pretty standard when off, but when turned on the light gives a calming orange glow. Personally, we love the Red Oak or Redwood Burl the best for the Arc, both giving the light a lovely reddened texture, and the Walnut for the Razor, which would look great in any high-powered office.

Of course, if you want something even more special, both designs are available in Carbon Fiber, giving them a really futuristic look. Plus, they are only available in limited numbers, so if you want one you should jump on it now. There's also one numbered custom-designed glass Razor, which is available for $2,500 and comes hand delivered by the designer.

Prices for a single lamp range from $170 to $570 depending on the model, but there are plenty of neat deals still left on Kickstarter, like matching sets for anywhere between $740 and $1,140.
