Beyoncé and Jay Z may be thought of as American royalty nowadays, but that doesn't mean they always get what they want. According to Huffington Post, the powerful duo had their sights set on a huge furnished mansion in Beverly Hills at 1181 North Hillcrest Road, which was on the market earlier this year for $85 million. They probably would have gotten it if it hadn't been for Markus "Notch" Persson, the creator of mega-popular video game Minecraft. The Swedish mogul (who sold the game to Microsoft for $2.5 billion in September) outbid the singing couple, buying the 23,000-square-foot home for $70 million—which, according to a press release from the John Aaroe Group, is apparently the "highest price ever paid for a home in Beverly Hills."
