It’s no secret that we love Boll & Branch. As the first bedding company in the US to be Fair Trade USA certified, the luxury linen brand works directly with fair trade farmers and factory workers in India, doing all they can to promote transparency within the industry. In their case, luxury doesn’t refer to the price, it points at the quality of not just the materials, but of the entire creation process. With a full line of 100 percent organic cotton sheets, pillowcases, blankets and duvets, Boll & Branch has now added an “ultra-premium bath towel line with a mission to both commercially and socially disrupt the market” to their repertoire.

The company first launched in January 2014 with bed linens and within the first six weeks, sold their entire inventory. By the end of 2014, they had added blankets, hand-stitched pillow cases and duvet covers and accrued over $2 million of revenue. Now in their second year, Boll & Branch is on a “$10M run rate,” proving that luxury consumers are becoming more concerned with how the products they buy are made.

The new towel line has full Fair Trade Certification and according to the company, “are made using proprietary technology and manufacturing techniques that achieve a balance of softness and absorption historically impossible to achieve without the use of synthetic materials.” Having sampled them ourselves, we can report that they feel fantastic, and arrive presented in tissue paper and wrapped with soft ribbon.

We can’t deny that knowing how concerned Boll & Branch is with treating farmers, mill workers and the environment with respect makes the plush bath line all the more pleasing to dry off with. Plus, unlike other towels we have tried (even the incredibly high-priced ones), these never seemed weighed down with water after use and actually air dried pretty quickly—which must be due to the “ultra-low twist construction.”

“The new line of towels furthers our mission to shake up home textiles. Towels have been produced the same way for centuries, and we were tired of overpaying for towels that were neither soft nor durable. So, we re-engineered the bath towel and did it using only sustainable materials and labor,” says Scott Tannen, CEO and co-founder of Boll & Branch.

Available in five colors—pure white, fresh cream (ivory), dove (light grey), pebble (dark grey), and powder (light blue)—the collection includes full-sized bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths. Because Boll & Branch doesn’t work with retailers and aren’t concerned with fluffing prices, their products are always sold at surprisingly low rates, meaning the bath line ranges from $12 to $45.

Though it doesn’t officially launch until the fall, you can pre-order the collection online now.
