 We don't hear much about the Swiss. We know that their cheese has holes in it, they like to stay politically neutral and can make a great watch. Some of the world's most notable watchmakers work for the Ullysse Nardin watch company. Founded in 1846, Ulysse Nardin was named after its founder, Ulysse Nardin, an accomplished Swiss watchmaker.
In 1983, Ulysse Nardin was purchased by Rolf W. Schnyder, its current President. At about the same time, Schnyder met Dr. Ludwig Oechslin, a scientist, inventor, historian and watchmaker. Since then Schnyder and Oechslin have created timepieces that had never before existed.
The newest creation is the Royal Blue Tourbillon. The bridges and main plates of these pristine watch are crafted fashioned out of blue sapphire crystal, making the flying Tourbillon itself float in empty space. The movement parts are skeletonized and aligned in a perfect symmetry withholding their secrets. The winding system is invisible and adds to the mystery. The interior of the platinum bezel is set with diamonds and blue sapphires. When wound, cogs and wheels in different places are set in motion, completing the mystery of the Royal Blue Tourbillon.
