Luxury Watches: Part of actor Olando Bloom's collection of classic and vintage Rolex watches is being auctioned off by Antiquorum in New York on June 11, revealing the Lord of the Rings star to be a man with superlative taste in timepieces. Bloom, who is an Ambassador for UNICEF, will donate part of the proceeds from the sale to the United Nations children's charity. All Bloom's watches will be sold accompanied by an autographed copy of the auction catalogue. The highlight of the collection is this fine and rare 1973 Explorer II Steve McQueen model, highly prized by Rolex aficionados, which Bloom wore on a leather cuff bracelet, estimated at $10,000 - $15,000.
Also on offer is a newer piece, a rare black PVD-coated steel Milgauss anti-magnetic chronometer produced in 2008, estimated at $10,000 - $15,000 as well; and a fine and rare black face 1969 Explorer, a steal with an estimate of only $3,000 - $4,000. In addition to the Rolexes, Antiquorum is also putting up Bloom's late-60s Breitling Steel Navitimer chronograph, est. at $1,000 - $2000. Also on offer at the sale are vintage timepieces owned by Steve McQueen himself, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.
