The Watch Workshop: When Time Is of Your Essence
Luxury Watches: Peter Speake-Marin, the founder of The Watch Workshop,
is an extraordinary horologist who produces
collectible, limited-edition Swiss-manufactured
wristwatches that fit into the modern- and classical
era of timepieces perfunctorily. Aside from the entire
collection's subtly classy appearance and meticulous
tooling, there is a loftiness of elevated self-worth
to its wearers that is as desirable as these watches
are attainable. It is a limited feeling reserved only
for collectors of Speake-Marin's omnipotent jeweled
masterpieces.
The Vintage Tourbillon is a limited edition consisting
of two distinct renderings with a limited run of only
10 each. There are 10 with platinum cases and 10 with
cases of red gold. The diameter of the case is 38 mm
and its thickness is 13.84 mm. The elements include a
minute tourbillon case, diamonds set into the
toubillon bridges; gold chatons, which are held in
place by three screws; a tourbillon cage pivoting
between two pivots; hand-polished angling on bridges;
a balance with timing screws; blued steel screws on
the movement bridges; polished white screws on the
tourbillon cage and bridge; blued steel hands; and an
18ct gold dial. There also is a 110-hour power reserve
and a warning indicator showing the last 24 hours of
reserved power.
If unique luxury, quintessential style and flawless
functionality are vital components of your essence,
Speake-Marin's vaulted Piccadilly collection merits a
moment of your precious time. For those entrenched in
scientific vernacular,
"tourbillon"
is an acceptable variant of "tourbillion." (A Luxé
mind is a terrible thing to waste.)
