Luxury Shopping: Luxury-loving women worldwide owe a debt of gratitude to Mr. Stanley Whitman. Mr. Whitman's indefatigable pioneering efforts made it possible for us to have our own slices of heaven on earth. On behalf of luxe ladies worldwide, thank you, Stanley, for creating the very first luxury shopping center in the USA! Back in 1965, when everyone said that that it would never work, Mr. Whitman forged on and developed the fabulous Bal Harbour Shops of Bal Harbour, Florida. This 500,000 square-foot open-air garden of luxury was built over a WW II U.S. Army barracks. Mr. Whitman convinced Neiman Marcus to open its first specialty store outside of Texas here. Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue are the BHS' cornerstone stores.
Women's Wear Daily ranked the Bal Harbour Shops the number one shopping center in the U.S. Men can shop here too, but who really cares? Let GQ find them their own place! The shopping center tops the U.S. in average sales per square foot at $1,350. The national average is $340. It totally adds up with all the gods and goddesses of high fashion and in one immaculate center.
There are 100 stores in this dizzying richly divine mix. There is a door for Dior, Cartier, Prada, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, D&G, Louis Vuitton, and so many more.
Various shops sponsor major events almost daily, and there are cafes, bistros, and restaurants aplenty. Before heading off to the Bal Harbour Shops, it is recommended that loved ones and friends be told. Shoppers have been known to get euphoric and lose track of time for days.
Wear comfortable shoes, and pay with bankcards to
leave a traceable trail.
