Magic Show

Luxury Toys: Okay, so you'll admit consulting a Magic 8 Ball before deciding where to eat lunch is a bit eccentric. The comment you made last year about wireless Internet being "magical" didn't help matters either. It's no secret that you're an active conversation topic around the office, so what do you care if you give your narrow-minded coworkers more fodder for the watercooler?

You never know, they might change their minds and think you're the epitome of new-age coolness (or else they'll think you're a closet Trekkie, or completely insane) when you break out your new Ambient Orb ($149). And when they find out that it tells you (in secret color code no less) about changes in the weather and stock portfolio-even when your friends are online-that comment about the magical wonders of wireless Internet won't seem so silly.

More like an oversized mood ring for your desk, the Ambient Orb is a glass lamp that glows different colors to indicate real-time changes in financial markets. It glows in shades ranging from yellow when the market is changing to bright green when the market is up to bright red when the market is down. It works similarly for weather changes and letting you know when contacts are available to instant message. There's no subscription fee or Internet connection required--the Orb uses a nationwide wireless network to obtain information (yes, it's kind of magical).
