19th Century Lens Fit For The Digital World

Itís not often that an analog product will make waves in the digital world, but every once in a while whatís old can be new again at just the right time. Joseph Petzval changed photography in the 19th century with the invention of the Petzval lens. Known for its sharpness, strong color saturation, wonderful swirly bokeh effect, artful vignettes and narrow depth of field, the Petzval lens produced some of the most amazing portraits of its time. Now with the advent of DSLR photography, most of this can be achieved at the push of a button or with some fancy Photoshop skills. Wanting to change that, the folks at Lomography have merged 19th century hardware with today's best digital cameras to bring you the Lomography Petzval Portrait Lens. Estimated to cost around $450, this soon-to-be-offered solid brass camera lens is sure to bring a little of the 19th century spirit and charm to what has become a mostly digital art.
