Luxury Cars: They say perfection is something to strive for but can never actually be obtained. Who ever said that obviously had never seen a Maybach.
Mention the name Maybach to anyone remotely interested in the auto industry and instantly their eyes will glaze over as they think of the ultra rich driving an elegant, sophisticated automobile to an afternoon of yachting with champagne and caviar picnics.
Maybach is in a class completely on its own. No other car manufacturer comes remotely close in comparison to Maybach's outstanding, uncompromising, excellence to create remarkably luxurious vehicles. A Maybach is much more than a simple means of transportation.
Maybach has had a somewhat sordid history. The company was founded by a father and son team in 1909 but did not produce its first production automobile until 1921, more than 12 years after the company was created. During the 1920s the company made a name for itself in the high-end auto market and quickly became synonymous with building top quality cars. World War II put a stop to the production of Maybach automobiles and they only produced engines for the German war effort. It was not until the late nineties and early 2000s when Daimler AG, with its Mercedes-Benz section, decided to revive and re-market the brand under its own title. Maybach then produced the 57 and 65 (the model name correlates to the length of the automobile in decimeters) and then later the 57S and 65S, which have added performance and racing-inspired body kits.
Recently, Maybach has announced the Maybach Landaulet as its new flagship model. The totally, all-new car was inspired by the landaulet style of car of the late 30s and 40s. The Maybach Landaulet, like the cars of yesterday, is a semi convertible with a roof that retracts to the rear of the car. The standard features of the Landaulet (standard is hardly what these features really are), are the standard features for all Maybachs. They include: voice-activated navigation system, remote start, heated and cooled front and rear seats, rear curtain, front and back seat massage, voice-activated AM/FM radio with 10-disc CD/DVD changer, premium 24-speaker sound system, rear DVD entertainment system, sunroof (with button to control) air conditioning with tri-zone automatic climate controls, a heated and cooled leather wrapped steering wheel with radio and climate controls, keyless entry, wireless connection, heated and cooled cup holders, rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, voice-activated power front and rear seats, trip computer, tachometer, iPod/MP3 holder/charger, and night vision. The Maybach Landaulet will also include features that are only available in the 62 and 62S such as power footrests, voice-activated sunroof or convertible top, second row wood grain tables, and heated windows.
The Maybach Landaulet combines the forgotten style of the last generation of super luxury vehicles with the technology and class of the next generation of ultra luxurious high-end vehicles. Maybach truly is a one of a kind car manufacturer, which make of outstanding luxury cars.
