Designer Cars: What do you do, if by chance, you see a charging bull running down the street? Get out of its way as fast as you possibly can, right? Few cars have the road presence of a charging bull, but one: Lamborghini. From its humble beings as an Italian tractor manufacturer to its now world-renowned luxury exotic sports car status, Lamborghini has always been a charging bull.
Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the automaker in 1963 because of his disappointment in his Ferrari 250. The quality of the clutch was not to his liking and he wrote to Enzo Ferrari (founder of Ferrari) to which Enzo replied that the clutch was good and the driver was lacking the proper skill. Ferruccio disassembled a transmission from one of his own tractors and discovered that the clutch from the tractor was the same clutch in the Ferrari. Thus the idea to create a true thoroughbred Italian sports car was born and Ferruccio set forth to build a car that would be better than Ferrari. Ever since, the two exotic luxury sports car companies have been natural rivals fighting for pride and bragging rights, but most of all, speed.
Recently Lamborghini announced a limited edition Murcielago, entitled the Edo LP710 Audigier. The Edo LP710 Audigier is a collaborative partnership between Edo Competition and world-famous fashion designer Christian Audigier.
With its matte black exterior and a pirate and sparkling skull theme carried through to the interior of the vehicle, the never tiring imagination of Christian Audigier is present in every design detail of the car.
The Edo LP710 is not just a show pony. The clever fellas down at Edo Competition took the base Murcielago LP640 and totally disassembled it. Then they beefed up the total performance of the car with a more aggressive camshaft, upgraded cylinder heads, more advanced aerodynamic system, lighter wheels and tires, and a high-flow air filter with a high performance exhaust system. These choice upgrades give this charging bull a whopping 710horse power over the anything but standard 640hp of the original Murcielago.
The Edo LP710 Audigier is not only one of the best-looking Lambos ever produced but also the very fastest with a top speed of 223.7mph. But if the freeway is a little jammed and the driver cannot quite reach 224mph, the Edo LP710 races from 0-62 mph in a jaw-dropping 3.2 seconds and 124mph which is achieved in only 10 seconds. Sadly only five of these exquisite beauties will be produced with a price tag of just under $700,000. But not to worry, each owner is given ample track time to learn how to control this masterpiece of mechanics along with a pro racer and test drive, upon request.
Be sure to order quickly because each customized Edo LP710 Audigier takes about three months to produce.
