Luxury Vehicles: The 599XX, a track-focused version of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show this week. It gets a retuned variant of the 599 V12 unit with engine speed bumped to 9000rpm and weight lowered by fitting a new crankshaft and a generous utilization of carbon fiber in supplementary components. The car maker claims that it can attain a little under 700 hp at 9000rpm. The car comes with a robotized manual gearbox that highlights shift times of just 60ms. The claimed track lap time for the 599XX is 1 minute and 17 seconds, about a second faster than the Enzo-derived FXX that it will substitute.

Numerous carbon fiber additions are the most obvious exterior changes to the standard 599 and this includes a small roof-mounted air spoiler, carbon fiber brake disk covers and a huge carbon fiber undertray and rear air diffuser. In the interior, the passenger compartment has been stripped out to meet racing specs, with a bare dash and carbon fiber cladding.

The car comes with a "virtual car engineer" though, which is a display monitor screen that gives instant updates concerning the efficiency of the car. The 599XX, the replacement for the FXX, will be the customer-owned testbed for Ferrari. Those who could purchase the car will come from Ferrari's list of valued customers and they will only be able to drive the car at track days nominated by Ferrari in 2010 and 2011. Such owners can even store their 599XX at Ferrari facilities for a fee. The car will provide the engineers of Ferrari large amounts of data from which it will base its future production cars.

Wow! Once again Ferrari has produced a fantastic car. What a design, What a design, I see that they have added some stylish 20 inch split rim alloys, matte-black rear diffuser and seat backs made from carbon-fibre. This has to be the meanest looking Ferrari that I have ever seen, and Ferrari is my favorite sports car by far.
