Luxury Cars: There were reports earlier that came out saying that Lamborghini has cancelled its intentions of creating a new 4-door coupe patterned after its astonishing Estoque Concept which it showcased at the Paris Motor Show last year. It was revealed last November that the car could become available by the early part of 2011, but since the financial sense of it is still being contemplated the possibility that the car may never see launch is an ever-looming possibility. Lamborghini has provided a statement basically saying that the Estoque was not shelved because it was never approved for production in the first place. So, the question of the future of the four-door coupe is still uncertain, especially in the light of the statements the company has released.
Lamborghini, which intends to add a third model line to its product lineup, has finally emerged with a sad report saying that "timing and market conditions" are just not ripe for adding a new model line. Moreover, the carmaker currently plans to bring down its plans to introduce turbocharged engines and dual-clutch gearboxes and rather concentrate on enhancing its current technologies and model lineups. At the unwrapping of the Etoque, company top brass offered that the car could be equipped with a turbocharged V8 someday or even a high-tech hybrid or diesel unit.
At present, the luxury car company will focus more on cutting weight of its present models and keep working on its high-rev naturally ventilated powerplants. Concerning the dual-clutch gearbox, a spokesperson for the company says that the existing e-gear transmission provided the most ideal mix of weight saving and mechanical interaction, saying further that the dual-clutch works seamlessly and does not have the feel of the occasion and drama that owners of the Lamborghini desire.
