Luxury Car Clubs: The Porsche Club of America consists of 140 regions in three countries. It is a dedicated group whose singular vehicular focus is clearly defined. Ownership of their perceived supreme automobile is mandatory to be a full-fledged member. However, Porsche Quest is a facet of the club that is open to aspirant Porsche owners. It is a six-month limited membership that enables those seeking to own a Porsche the opportunity to learn as much about the vehicles as possible before acquiring one. Access is granted to the PCA's award-winning monthly publication, Porsche Panorama, a magazine that provides didactic info on all Porsche models, engine specifications, transmissions, wheels, tires, modifications, and more. Porsche Panorama also has classified ads that feature Porsches for sale. Members of Porsche Quest also receive access to the Mart., which is a classified-ads section on PCA's website.
Club racing and driver-education (DE) programs are two premium perks for members. There are club-racing events for all classes of Porsches, including street legal and modified cars. The DE programs provide owners an opportunity to hone driving skills. All club-sponsored racing events are held under the highest ethical principles. An immediate expulsion stems from harmful behavior toward other members or cheating while participating in contests. Camaraderie and fair play are imperative to the club's decorum.
The Porsche Parade is an annual event held for PCA members that consists of various vehicle competitions, athletic contests, and social activities for both adults and children. It is a gathering for both Porsche owners and their families. San Diego, California, is the site for the 2007 Porsche Parade. The five-day affair begins July 1. The 52nd annual Porsche Parade will have an Autocross, a Concours d'Elegance, and a Time/Speed Distance Rally. Major athletic contests include golf and tennis tournaments plus a 5K run/walk. Opportunities to visit favorite San Diego's local sites such as the Scripps-Birch Aquarium and Sea World are available too. The 2007 Victory Banquet will be held on the flight deck of the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum on San Diego Bay.
There are even grudge matches that follow the official Porsche Parade events. It is all about having a good time. Last year's gathering was held in Portland, Oregon. The 2008 Porsche Parade will be held in the Carolinas. Numerous sporting and social activities are held year round throughout the U.S.
Visit the Porsche Club of America's website for more details on everything and anything that is Porsche. It is more than just owning a Porsche; it is a state of mind.
