In case you missed it, the Hennessey Venom F5 is on its way and judging by the auto brand's anticipated top speed exceeding 290mph, it'll be here before you know it. As the Venom GT's successor, the F5 was named after the highest tornado rank on the Fujita scale (an F5 means winds up to 318mph) and features a "bold, lower-drag shape, additional power and enhanced technology."

“We are very excited about this next chapter of the Venom, which brings forth an all-new design that is not only a powerful and unique statement that our clients are looking for, but a vehicle that will achieve even higher performance through improved aerodynamics,” says company president and founder John Hennessey. “We learned a great deal during the development of the Venom GT in breaking the 270-mph barrier, and we bring that experience to this new design as we look toward raising the performance bar even higher.”

The car's engine is still getting finalized, but it will probably have a V-8 GM engine that gives over 1,400hp, and drag reduction from the GT's 0.44 to below 0.4. Since it will be made from carbon fiber, the auto will weigh less than 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs). Its speed is expected to eclipse the GT, "which stand at 14.51 seconds to 200 mph, and 13.63 seconds to 186 mph (300 km/h)."

The Venom F5 will be officially unveiled in 2015 and the company promises that at least 30 units will be made, with deliveries starting in late 2016. Since the Venom GT costs around $1.2 million (of which there are still cars available for purchase), you can expect the F5 to have a steeper price tag.
