Luxury Real Estate: The goal of Nakheel is to make Dubai one of the largest tourist destinations of the world. The progressive United Arab Emirates-based firm currently has 16 developments total to date. With diverse holdings, the organization is involved in residential, commercial, retail, and leisure projects. The company is very big on large, as the Ibn Battuta Mall is the world's largest themed mall. The Dubai Waterfront will be world's largest developed waterfront property, providing one-half million residences. The Palm, which is a three-part project, comprised of The Palm Jumeirah, the Jebel Ali and The World, Nakheel, is being built on the largest three manmade islands of the world (in the middle of a desert!). Nakheel, which operates under the corporate umbrella of Dubai World, is the largest development company in the UAE, and Dubai World is among the world's largest holding companies with approximately 50,000 employees.

The Ibn Battuta Mall has over 275 retail outlets, 5,000 parking spaces, and is built on over 3.5 million square feet with 1.2 million square feet of retail space. The mall's namesake, Ibn Battuta, is a 14th century Arab adventurer, and the six themed retail courts are based upon the countries to which he traveled and explored. Finally, history and retail are seamlessly joined. The Palm, which is only one-third complete, will have at least 100 luxury hotels, 10,000 exclusive residential beachside villas, and 5,000 shoreline apartments upon completion. Extensive recreation area, restaurants, water parks, shopping malls, sports facilities, health spas, and cinemas also will dot the vast, luxurious and diverse mixed-use development. The Palm will increase the shoreline of Dubai by more than 323 miles (520 kilometers).

Projects by Nakheel have garnered a lot of attention from recognized luminaries of entrainment and sports. A reality-based TV series based on The Palm Jumeirah's famous residents and investors would likely be a smash hit. The visionary company is doing more than developing properties. It is constructing history.
