Healthy Design Alternatives Create New Architecture Trend

+House by superkül inc | architect is a dynamic project that reflects the Toronto-based firm’s commitment to home design excellence and sustainability. +House may just be the “healthiest home” in North America. Located in Mulmur, Ontario in Canada, +House is a four season residence built with anti-bacterial and fungal materials, such as cementitious blocks and natural clay plaster walls that required no chemical or paint finishing.

The focus of the project was to create a residence that was built with both human health and environmental awareness as the highest priorities. New trends in architecture are rising to meet green efforts, which are mirrored in superkül inc’s +House. A green roof, a geothermal system, solar shading, as well as the use of soy-based sealants and untreated fabrics were just some of initiatives that the talented design team used in the project.

Not only is physical structure aesthetically pleasing, it is situated facing a stream-fed pond in beautiful natural setting. 14 foot tall windows offer an unobstructed view of the terrain, while the bedrooms are located on opposite ends of the home, allowing the central area of +House to be reserved for open living and recreation. The project recently won superkül inc the Ontario Association of Architects Award of Design and recognition in Azure magazine May 2012 edition.
