Situated next to the house is a huge, three bay carriage house with the third bay converted to a workshop with 220 amp power and a 940 sq. ft. upstairs room. There is also a very eco-friendly one bedroom log guest cottage with a sod roof, a sustainable feature that helps regulate interior temperatures and absorbs carbon from the atmosphere. Situated next to the eco-cottage is an organic vegetable garden. Recent improvements to the property include a $30,000 water system, including a 4500 gallon water tank.
Barry Pepper's home for sale in Qualicum adds to the list of celebrities who own luxury real estate on Vancouver Island. Jazz musician Dianna Krall and her husband Elvis Costello own a home in Nanoose Bay, near Nanaimo. Pamela Anderson may not have plans to move to back to her hometown of Ladysmith, but is building an up-scale eco-development there.
Besides Vancouver Island, Vancouver and the Gulf Islands are popular places for celebrities to make their homes. The X-File's Gillian Anderson owns a home in Vancouver, as does singer Sarah McLachlan. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel put their ultra-high-end Vancouver home up for sale recently. Robin Williams has a retreat on Salt Spring Island while Randy Bachman and Robert Bateman both make that Island their permanent home.
