News & Trends: 38-year old supermodel Claudia Schiffer has been announced as the new face of Yves Saint-Laurent as well as other luxury design houses.
Claudia first rose to fame as a supermodel back in the 1980's amongst the household names of Cindy Crawford and Tyra Banks. Off the runway, Claudia has made a comeback posing for the YSL Spring/Summer 09 ad campaign.
Of her somewhat advanced age, Claudia says, "I know one day I'll be considered too old. But I think 40-year-old women actually look more healthy and fit than some girls in their 20s. I've met women who have way better bodies in their 40s because they've been working on them for all these years."
Claudia seems to be leading the pack of 90's supermodels that are beginning to model again, as fashion houses pick them over the new girls.
First discovered on the runways by Chanel fashion head Karl Lagerfield, Claudia has appeared on the covers of Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The New York Times and People.
The German born model follows on the heels of other fashion model favorites, including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen and Karen Elson.
The leggy blonde was picked for the campaign by YSL's creative director Stefano Pilati, and the photo shoot was held in the Hollywood Hills by photography team Inez van Lamserveerde and Vinooh Matadin.
In addition to YSL, Claudia also recently modeled for the Chanel winter collection by Karl Lagerfield, as well as Dolce & Gabbana's Cruise Collection and Salvatore Ferragamo.and Vinooh Matadin.
