Luxury Car News: The accolades from the auto industry for the 2010 Porsche Panamera are coming. Bloomberg News named the four-door sports sedan its overall Car of the Year for 2009 in its first official ratings of automobiles. The Panamera also recently received an Edmunds Inside Line Editors’ Most Wanted trophy at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. Porsche’s newest model has been cited by various publications in domestically and abroad, including an Auto Trophy award from Germany’s Auto Zeitung magazine.
Only new cars or significantly revised models were included in the vehicles reviewed by Bloomberg for its Car of the Year awards. Performance, style, design, quality, and desirability were the criteria Bloomberg’s heralded auto columnist Jason H. Harper, who reviews hundreds of automobiles yearly, utilized in selecting the winners in seven categories.
"The Porsche Panamera has broken the sports-sedan category wide open, producing a truly desirable auto that combines the best elements of a sports car and a comfortable four-door," said Mr. Harper. "Fast and fun, the Panamera is a car with real appeal."
The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG was named Best Executive Sedan, and the Audi R8 5.2 took the Best Sports Car category. The Land Rover LR4 was the Best All-Around SUV, while the Best Green Car was the Ford Fusion Hybrid. The Best People Mover/Family Car was the Lincoln MKT EcoBoost, and the Mazda 3 was cited as the Best Economy Car.
There are three models of the Porsche Panamera, including the 500 horsepower, twin-turbocharged, four- wheel drive Panamera Turbo. For more information, visit Panamera.com.
