Lady Gaga and fashion director of Japanese Men's Vogue, Nicola Formichetti has been named as the new creative director of Thierry Mugler's men's and women's lines.
"Thierry Mugler is about the power of glamour and walking straight into the future," Formichetti said.
Formichetti replaces Rosemary Rodriguez as the talent that revived the Mugler fashion house, reviving its ready to wear and runway. Mugler had said he was looking for "young talent" to help reinvigorate the brand. As fashion director, Formichetti will oversee a new design team including Sébastian Peigné, head of womenswear, and Romain Kremer, head of menswear, who both have their own impressive resumes. Thirty-year-old Peigné has worked under Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga for the past 10 years, while 30-year-old Kremer launched a namesake collection five years ago after winning a prize at the Hyères festival in France.
Formichetti's first collection will debut for the fall 2011 season, giving the fashion world something new to look forward to.
